Boom Geforce3 Ti200 128 DDR, HELP ME!

well, asd anyone who uses the gaming and benchmark forum will know, iv recently been having problems running games such as Unreal 2, Unreal Tournament (the OLD ONE!) and GTA3..

originally the card i used was a flimsy geforce2 mx 64mb that simply reused to run GTA3 and Unreal 2 (no matter what setting i had it on) and to remedy that i used a borrowed Prophet 4500 64mb that seemed to do the job, but only on low details, and even then GTA3 would still crash after an hour or two,,

so as a final solution i brought to new things,

1 - A Coolermaster v61 Xdream heatsync to cool down the CPU from a toasty 50C to a nice chillly 39C

2 - A brandnew Gainward Geforce 3 Ti200 128DDR

so with my new cooler and card i expected many a night of gaming ahead, only to be reduced to tears (literally) by having the same problems (even the evil chime noise that often accompanies a crash) when i tried to play GTA3, but allarmingly games like Unreal 2 Now run (but not as well as i hoped even at low low settings) and my beloved Mafia now crashes to peices before i even get onto the steet....!!!

im using the standard drivers with the card and have tried the terrible nVidia 41.09 drivers and they make it worsem also if its anyhelp im using Direct X ..

so if ANYONE CAN PLEASE HELP? as im really gettin upset about this as iv been saving up for ages for this card...??

does anyone know of any good drivers?

heres the full spec of my PC so anyone who is willing to help can get an idea of the system i use..

AMD 1400 Thunderbird
Jetway 663AS Ultra
768MB PC133 RAM
80Gb IBM 7200RPM
Geforce 3 Ti200 128DDR
Sound Blaster Live With LIVE! Drive
Pinnacle TVRage PCI TV Card

MANY THANKS ALL, DANNY!

You may wan't to try your luck with some of the older drivers. Goto this site:

ftp://download1.nvidia.com/Windows/

And try the 30.82 and the 30.83 series, they were the newer drivers when the Geforce 3 originally came out. You can also try the 28 series to.

I'm sorry to say, but I dont think this is really a video card problem. If the games were crashing before, then they should still crash no matter what video card you had in. I also thought, don't Geforce 3's only come in 64MB, or am I just way behind the times again?

Wow, I am behind the times again. I thought that only the new Geforce 4 cards had 128MB of memory. Nice

BTW, hope those drivers work.

well, i used the very hany expert tool progrsam that was bundled with the card and updated the vgs bios and the drivers from there, and now things seem, but gta3 wont run at all, as in wen i click the icon it doesnt do anything, adn also wen i play mafia, my sound turns off and wont work untill i reinstall the drivers.. ARGH!

If the sound is not working in Mafia, then it is definetely not a video card problem. Video and Sound cards dont really interface each other I don't think.

I am now beggining to think it sounds more of a game problem then a computer problem itself. This might sound harsh, but if you are have continual problems, the best thing to always do is reformat and start from fresh again.
