hi,
i am reinstalling my friends pc ( the hd died, i put in a new one)
the video card is pci, it's a matrox.
it has two heads, but i have been told it does not have dual screen support. the chiset says it's a 64 bit graphic system, furthermore it says mga-2164WP-C 9732KU222
the other one of the larger chips is a texas instruments and it says video TVP3026-250CPCE 9740221 9738xxe
basicly i need a way to figure out what drivers to use.
i need to get at least 256 colours preferably 16 bit.
anny help would be appreciated
thank you.

This seems to indicate it is a Texas Instruments product

I dug out an old matrox card in my parts drawer that had similar numbers on it and it's a Matrox Millenium II 8 mgb, just as hal says.

Doh, should of read ALL the replies before replying myself. * 3 demerits for not being fully informed*

The MGA-2164 is the main video chip, which is indeed a Matrox Millenium II.

The TI chip is the RAMDAC - digital/analog converter.

Those were outstanding video cards in their day - very fast. Not good gaming cards because they don't speak 3D, but I still have customers using them for CAD.

That card is a very good match to the rest of the system.

64 Bit is just the memory interface. It actually only had 4 or 8 megabytes of video memory.

You should start your own post instead of bring up dead ones.

But Razor is correct, 64 bit is the interface, not the amount of RAM.

Thanks for searching the forums before posting RedBurner, not enough people do IMO

And I don't think it was so bad posting in this thread, but it is preferable to start your own thread simply so that you can give it a more applicable title and first post for those of us who scan the new posts
