arranging files on CD

I have Nero 5.5.5.6 that came with my CD-RW and I would like to burn an mp3 CD. I have done this successfully before, but with one *problem* - all the tracks were in alphabetical and thus in alphabetical order in my mp3 player. I want to be able to put them in my own order, does anyone know how I can arrange the files on my own?

I have thought about adding a number to the file names, however I would prefer to not have to do that.

TIA, Logan

Hi Colonel Sanders,

Just arrange them in the left-side window by dragging-n-dropping them into the correct order.

No such luck with a simple solution.

When I drag and drop them out of order, they are put back in order. I looked underview>arange icons and it has -by name selected some other options grayed out.

First thing you should do is upgrade your Nero to the latest version - it's a free upgrade.

Hmmm, just tried it on mine, and it works as expected. I do have the "latest-n-greatest" that glc mentions, but, unless I remember wrong, it has worked properly in prior versions. Either way, the update is free as mentioned...

PS: The latest update I found was: 5.5.10.15a

I got 5.5.10.15z, but still haveing no luck.

If I try to make an audio CD, I can arrange the files however I want. But I want to make an mp3 CD and have to make it is a regular data CD, which automatically organizes the tracks?

Hi Colonel Sanders,

I don't see why it would make any difference, but the only thing that seems to be different is that I just burn regular music CDs. I've never burnt a mp3 CD -- heck, I don't even have a mp3 player (other than my computer, of course...).

I just tried it again to make sure I'm not seeing something that's not there, and it works on my system. I just recently burnt a music CD, and double checked it, and it's in the order I arranged them, not in the order on the HD or right side window in Nero...

I also look everywhere I could find in Nero, but found no option that controls sort order.

PS: Nero tech support has responded very quickly when I have contacted them. If nobody offers a good solution... maybe you can contact them??

I think that the option for how the files are arranged is under view>arrange icons(that might just be the icons, but I think that is how the files are arranged).

I think I'll check with Nero tech support.

I just re-re-re-checked... I don't even have any arrange icon options in the "Music CD" mode! I only have that option in other modes, like "Data CD" and other modes...

Which type of burning option are you picking?? I don't even see a "mp3" mode.....

I think that's the issue - data CD's can't be arranged. I believe only audio CD layouts can be arranged.

A thought - and this would be a pain in the butt - burn each file as a separate session in the order you want them.........?

A pain in the butt, but if the player recognizes it I have little better to do in my time(with the exception of homework, getting a job, golf-practice... ). I'll look into doing that.
