Talking Finally...........

I finally took the plunge and switched to ATI. I am now the proud owner of a FIC A97P Radeon 9700 Pro, and I am very happy with the performance of this card. And, some of you may ask, was it really worth it to pay $300 to upgrade from a Ti 4600? Well, I can play MOHAA with everything turned on, *with* 4x AA enabled, and still hit the v-synch cap of 62FPS. So, yeah, it was worth it.

The problem ATI has presented me with is, not only is it the fastest gaming card out there, but it's got the best TV out features as well.

*** ATI I can't afford to have one in my gaming machine and one in my DVD machine!?!

i just turned 8x Antistropic filtering and 4x Anti Aliasing on and loaded a few games, the performance of the games was exactly the same, i noticed a very small smoothing of the lines, but i wouldnt see it from my normal sitting position, i had to get about an inch or two from the screen. the only thing i noticed was the mouse reaction got spongy

so i turned them off, why have those things taking up power if they arent that noticeable

Well, *I* notice when I have AA flipped on. I could only afford the card by selling a lot of hardware I had lying around, and my old Ti 4600.

Try this: fire up a game with 4x AA enabled and take a screenshot. Then, quit the game and turn AA off. Load up your game, and take another screenshot from the exact same angle. Then, compare the two, I guarantee you will notice a difference. I can tell the difference without comparing screenshots, but since you might not be able to, this method will prove that AA makes a difference. Another interesting thing: when using 4x AA with the 9700 Pro, it only drops a mere 10-15 FPS.

Congrats, Alienware_Dude!! Thanks for the re-assurance that it's as nice as the reviews say. Once my work schedule gets back to normal (if it ever does) that will most likely be my next upgrade (from a GF 3).
