can't decide on a good device for Video input
ok guys, if find the best advice on here. after reading a lot of reviews, i still can't decide on what would be the best device to input video. here what i want to do:
Goal : Input video from a Sharp Hi8 camcorder into a computer and edit videos The Rig: 1700+ TBred B, Gigabyte 7DXR+, 2 80GB Seagate Barracuda IV's in a RAID 0, Visiontek Geforce 3 Ti500, NEC 4 port USB 2.0 card, Pioneer Slot Load DVD, TDK 48x CD-RW, Iomega Zip 250, Sony floppy, 512mb DDR 2100 Crucial Ram. The Question: should i buy a ATI Radeon 8500 DV AWI for video input, a Dazzle 80, or a Pinnacle setup? I can't afford a Matrox card. i obviously have to do it through analog inputs. but is there a hardware device, whether it be a Video Card or an external device such as a Dazzle that would suffice? I'm willing to spend somewhere in the range of $100 or so. i know the ATI card is considerable more, but that i'm willing to spend b/c i can always give my brother the GF3 and say that i'm upgrading. i saw a Dazzle at Best Buy for $50. this is my girlfriend's rig that i personally built for her. i may switch out the motherboard w/ my MSI kt266a Pro2 RU. but don't know, i like the stability of the AMD 761 chipset. any suggestions? i have the software, i managed to download Cyberlink's Power Director. thanks. ANY suggestions at all are greatly apprecaited. |

Forget external devices unless they are USB 2.0 or Firewire. I'd lean toward a Pinnacle.
