BearEater, I beg to differ. ATI has really stepped up and refined their drivers, they are now almost as stable as nVidia's. Those days are over, don't let the 'driver issue' decide which card you buy.

Note that your Dell doesn't have a 300 watt power supply - I *have* successfully used a Ti4400 in a Dimension 4100, but be forewarned - you may have issues with a high powered card. Also note you can't put a standard power supply in there - the pinouts on the ATX connector are nonstandard.

A Ti 4800, to the best of my knowledge, is a AGP 8x capable Ti 4600.

yes, 9500 pros are dx9 ready. Also Ati has driver issues, but I have the latest ones and they are fine. Also have you thought about modding a 9500 to a 9700 pro with software? (its safe.)

well I probably won't get the 9500, unless glc meant I might have problems, then I would definetly try to mod it.

All I said is *might* - because it's not 300 watts. The 4400 supposedly requires 300 watts.

There is an adapter that you can use a standard ATX power supply in a Dell. You can find it here if you need to upgrade it.

Good find - that's a lot cheaper than ordering a 300 watt power supply from Dell - I think they want about $90 for one of those.

For sure glc, that's what got me looking for an adapter, Dell has good quality power supplies but are too expensive.

I am getting a Sapphire ATI Radeon 9500 Pro, how do you mod it to the 9700 Pro?? I'd be interested in trying.

I'm not sure about that. I checked and saw that it was a Foxconn supply.

I stand corrected! I couldn't believe it, so I went and opened up a buddies computer and sure enough a foxconn. When did Dell start this? Well, at least now you know you can get an adapter to put a good quality ps in it.

Hmm - the 4100 that I put the Ti4400 in had a Delta. I do know that the 4100 uses a Palo Alto case - which is a division of Foxconn.

I'm not sure glc, my buddy is a pharmacy and has been busy as heck, but I will try to catch him and see.
