How to mod a radeon 9500pro

I saw in a thread that you can mod an ati radeon 9500 to a radeon 9700 pro with software. Can anyone explain? I'm getting a Sapphire radeon 9500pro and would be interested in doing this.

Only certain Radeon 9500 *non-Pro* cards can be modded.

Do you know which ones, and how easy the process is? I haven't gotten it yet, but ibviously the 9500 non-pro would be cheaper anyway.

there is a software mod and a hardware mod! make sure you buy the Saphire (red card) with the L-shaped memory config. just do a google search to find the software download.

That last link was bad, try this one. It should go right to the card.

Apparently yes, and you're modding it to a 9700 non-pro, to get pro specs you need to overclock it after you mod it... but if it all works, you got yourself a deal! Beware tho... the sucess rate is apparently 50% only...

Actually, the mod works about 2/3 of the time, from what I've read.

the pro has the words P R O instead of just being normal, and it gives more performance and provides an s video socket

Count me in (successfully modded). The card I used was a Sapphire atlantis 9500 non-pro with 128MB arranged in an L shape(you need 128 not 64, cuz it won't work).

Basically most of the early productions (L shape in memory) can be modded.
