Question Pinnacle PCTV5 TV Tuner/Video Capture Card

I was thinking of buying a TV Tuner card that has video capture and I saw this one.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?sku=P121-5002

Does Pinnacle make good cards or should I stay away from this one….

I’m basically going to use the card to watch TV and to copy some Videos to my hard drive and burn to CD’s…

I am also interested in getting a card possibly. From what I hear though they are basically just tv tuners right? I mean, if you have good reception that is one thing, but I have bad reception and I don't want to deal with a bunch of extras to get good reception.

Pinnacle makes very decent cards. I dunno about that model, but you can't go wrong with Pinnacle.

Are you going to do semiprofessional work or just "amateur" video capture?

Just amateur… I have always wanted to mess with video editing…. If I find it fun I might try something a little more professional… but for the mean time I just want to burn my home movies……

I think I will get this card…. Being it’s the only one I saw…. Do you recommend any software Nuke or should I just use the one that comes with the card?

Try first the one that comes with the card. It comes with a trial version of Pinnacle Studio 7 which earned very good ratings in a PC WORLD review.

If you get into this things more you can buy Pinnacle Studio 7 later, it costs over 70 bucks. Plus IVA if you buy it here.

What devices would you be using? Camera? Just TV?

Well basically from a TV Tuner I used a long time ago I got the same reception that my TV got I wouldn't expect a better reception and you wouldn't need any other kind of software only what comes with it but of coarse there is always more software to enhance your experience.
