New sound card wont work!

Just bought a new sound card to replace by built in mobo one. Installed it all correctly but it still won't work! In sound and multimedia the sound card comes up as game compatible device when i select it as a preffered device for Audio and Voice but it still won't work!!!!!!!!!

Also i do not have a volume control and it appears as something that cannot be used when i look at it and try to adjust the volume. All of this, i think, is to do with me doing the ENUM trick to add a new motherboard to my system! What can i do because i am gonna re install windows if this doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELP

My system specs

ME
800mhz Duron
k7VZA
256mb of RAM
the sound card is a game surround MUSE Lt

Do you have onboard sound on the motherboard? If you do, you will need to disable it inthe BIOS before the sound card works.

Did you check the device manager for conflicts?

you must remove the drivers for the old card before installing the new card, most instructions I have seen do not tell you this as most installs are for new systems rather than a replacement
