On board video bad?

On the monitor I'm getting what I would call squigglies or crawlly artifacts around hi contrast images(black letters on white background, etc. The computer is a HP 7500(I think) with on board video.
other specs: 10g HDD
512m ram
Win NT

Ive swapped monitors with no change in the crawllies.
So is the on board video dying or something else?

One thing you might want to try if you can is that some monitors have a 'degauss' button on them. That's the first thing I'd try to clear it up. It will kind of make the screen jump and get wavey for a second and then clears it up.

Otherwise, how old is your monitor?

Rudedog: I've done the degauss when I first saw the problem and have the same problem with the second monitor. The monitor in use now is about 2yrs old (sony 21' flat crt). I'm thinking I may have a cap in the video section getting weak.
Look forward to other ideas. Thanks.

Send a message via AIM to Alienware_Dude
Are there any magnetic fields near the monitor, such as a subwoofer or unshielded speakers?
