ATi TV Wonder

Anyone have an ATi TV Wonder or have seen it in action? I currently have a very cheap Hauppauge TV Go! PCI card. I really was not looking for much at the time and went for the cheapest card, but I have grown to like watching TV on my monitor, so I am looking to upgrade.

I was going to get another Hauppauge, but then I was the TV Wonder. I am looking at the USB one in particular. Only $70 and free programmable guide. So, is it worth it?

Respectfully,

Demosthenes

Hi Demosthenes,

I have the ATI All in Wonder and i am very pleased with it. I can't comment on gaming, as i don't go in for games. I use my computer mostly for digital photography and video editing.
But i do like it for TV, analogue camcorder capture and the ability to output to video.
I also use Firewire for DV camcorder capture and find the picture on screen very good.

(Mine is an internal)

Hope this helps.

I upgraded from the TV Wonder VE to a Leadtek Winfast TV2000XP a couple of months ago and can't praise this new card enough. Newegg still has them at $55. Lots of features including FM radio. I think byte bought one as well, he may have something to say about it.

Can you set it to record stuff while away, like a TIVO?
That is my main interest and what caught my eye with the TV Wonder.
I always wanted a All in Wonder, but never the cash.

Respectfully,

Demosthenes

Yes you can, there is PVR software that comes bundled with it. I think almost all of the tuners above the bottom end are capable of recording. If you check newegg, there are about 200 or so user reviews on it. Some people claim that the playback quality isn't that great, but I have a feeling those are the kind of people that want $150 performance out of a $50 card.
