Did you have any big magnets near it...Wouldnt put it past the monitor just being gone though...

Wow! I hope you are very knowledgeable in electronics. Opening monitors is very very risky.

Is there a degauss on it? maybe try that, it could be the problem. Have you tried it on another computer too? never know, could be the video card...

It sounds like either one of the connecting pins on the VAG plug is bent or pushed in, or there is a break in the cable.

If it's a bent or pushed-in pin, try adjusting it with needlenose pliers. If not, then take it to b repaired somewhere or toss it and get a new one.

btw, can you unplug the cable from the monitor, or does it go directly into the monitor?

If the cable is good it has probably lost a color gun. Usually unless a monitor is very new it's not worth the expense to fix it (if it is indeed a color gun).

it would have to lose two guns to get a green screen.

the red and the blue

ive seen this happening to more screens.
especially when they are getting old or have been heavily used for years.
and its usually a green color indeed.
so im also thinking the monitor has broken.
i have tried to get a few of these monitors fixed, but often the parts cant be found, or are so expensive you are better off with a new one.

Your monitors color gun may gone or guns Ic which drive the color gun may diffective, it is adviseable that you consult a monitor specialist, if you has some knowledge of soldring try to resolder the chip CPT's neck pcb, it may remove the problem if it due to drysoldering
