9800 pro 128mb and 256mb
I know ATi is making a 128mb memory version as well as a 256mb version of the new 9800pro. Will the 256mb version be coming out later? Because at all the websites where you can preorder the 9800 pro they only have the 128mb version, not the 256mb version.
Thanks |

Will there be a noticeable difference in the performance between the two?

I wonder what your supposed to do with AGP aperture when you have 256MB of onboard video RAM

i reckon to be able to tell the difference you should ask this question. do you see a difference between the 64Mb version of cards compared to the 128Mb versions???
Thereatically, it should be two times better, but this is without any pre-knowledge |

Out by June is the report.
I'd wait for all the reviews and if they were good, and I could afford it, I'd buy one. No you don't "need" a 256mb graphics card but it'd be nice. You could max everything for at least the next 2 years. ATI has lenghthened it's product cycle again, and M$ won't be coming out with DX10 till the fall of 2004 when it's supposed to introduce Longhorn, so that card is as future proof as things get in the computer world. |

i thought longhorn was march 2005
and i think less faster memory is better than more slower memory |

Current is that Longhorn and DX10 are out by Q4 2004.
Check the "Quickstart" column in the April 2003 Maximum PC. They got the date directly from M$. |

Yep, 64bit.
If I were M$ I'd wait a long time after this was released because the PC world is really lagging in this respect. If you thought porting stuff to XP was bad this should make it look pleasent. I intend to keep XP for a long time while they get everything sorted out. |

It isnt necessarily all 64-bit. it's still 32bit,but supports AMD's next Hammer,which cross-platforms 32bit and 62bit
