Can new drivers cause the fan to go wild?

I just downloaded the new nVidia drivers for my MX440. Could they make the fan run differently? It's either my power supply about to blow up or my video card fan.

Not likely, unless there's some sort of power saving option in the drivers (which should be noted in the driver release notes if it exists). If there's no mention of it in the driver documentation, you might need to start shopping for a new fan .

Nevermind. I opened up my case (it's been over 2 months!) and there was a lot of dirt on the little orb under the fan (I ahve an Inno3D card... cool orb heatsink). I should really get a filter for my intake =/
