VidCard Q's
Hi all,
A few questions: 1) What is side-band addressing and how do I enable it on my video card (the one in my sig)? I can find no options for this procedure in my system BIOS or Video driver control panel. Is there any benefit in doing so? 2) What is the best utility that I can use to OC this card? Will it do any good, and what is a realistic limit that I can reach and safely maintain? 3) My driver version is Detonator 43.45. The GeForce Tweak Utility mentioned on these forums is said not to work beyond version 29.xx of the Detonator drivers. Are there any known workarounds or alternatives? All help appreciated. Thanks in advance. NPP

1) "A sideband is an additional data path between the system memory and the processors apart from the main bus. It takes the address and command instructions from the main bus and sends them on a sideband to the system chipset. Sidebanding lets the graphics processor line up new data requests as the main bus continues to gather data. This increases the AGP bandwidth and speeds up data transfers." From www.strathfield.com.
2) Use Powerstrip. Overclocking your card will gain a slight increase in gaming performance. The typical limit is 10% of the Default clocks. 3) Use Powerstrip. I believe you can enable/disable Sideband Addressing through Powerstrip, as well. |
