video card fans

I have a GF 256 that I pulled from a computer. It was causing lines on the moniter and to me appeared to be a video card issue. I found out that the fan had died. Would this have killed the graphics chip permantly from overheating? I know these GF 256 card's ran hot but this is first one that burned out fan that I have seen. Where could I get a replacement fan-any ideas? I myself do not need it but would find someone that needed a better card. I don't want to put any big bucks into it but if I could pick up a fan for not too much wouldn't mind if graphics chip isn't permantly ruined. Anyone have any opinions on this?

I have had my GeForce 3 running with it's fan about to fall off(for a very short period of time, of course).

I think your card should be fine.

I would recomend a Vantec orb cooler to replace it, I haven't seen many other GPU coolers, and I haven't had good luck with thermal-take.

Check out the Thermalthake web site. They make video card fans.
