Audio & Video driver problems

Hello,

My friend is having trouble with his computer so I decided to come to the best online resource to seek help.

He's been blabbering around with his comp trying to fix some HD errors and whatnot that kept his computer from properly functioning. He now seemed to fix the majority of the problems except for a few thigs. One of those is his audio and video drivers which seem to be missing and are keeping him from adjusting his screen-resolution or color settings, as well as hearing anything.

He downloaded the drivers (sys630 & sys7018) but does not know how to get them functioning.

Any help is much appreciated,

Did he try this: go into the device manager, click properties on the device, update driver, and select browse to install the drivers that he downloaded.

Ok, I did that and got the screen resolution working for him, however I could not find the device for his sound. Under what device category should it be?

Thanks,

If there is sound detected and windows doesn't have the driver for it, it may under the ? category in Device Manager as something like "Multimedia Device". If you can't find anything, is this onboard sound or a separate sound card? HTH

He has a onboard sound card, and this is what he has for his devices;

- Other devices
.....PCI Card
.....PCI Ethernet Controller
.....Unsupported Device
+ Ports (COM & LPT1)
- Sound video and game controllers
.....%RemoveDeviceDesc%
.....%SisAudioDeviceDesc%
.....Creative Sound Blaster 16 Plug and Play
.....Gameport Joystick
.....MPU-401 Compatible

Which one is it?

Thanks,
