Hi all,

I wanted to know what is the best way to transfer cassette tape music to my hard drive.

What kind of Hardware should I buy? (Audigy 2 or Audigy 2 Platinum)

What kind of software should I use to edit?

Thanks.

Cool

www.goldwave.com is very easy to use. I've been using it to transfer some of my casettes to CD. Goldwave gets them to disk and then I use Nero to burn.

You need a cable to go from your casette player line/or headphone jack out to your audio card line in. Or your mobo line in if you have onboard sound.

Another vote for using goldwave, I've used it to do the same thing, all you need to do is plug in a tape player of some kind (even a walkman will work) to the aux on your sound card, goldwave will record it to your hard disk, then you can save it as a wav, mp3, or whatever you want. Goldwave is about the best shareware I have ever seen for software of any kind. It will do what you want it to do and a whole lot more. If you need more you can get ProToolsFree, but thats more along the lines of professional recording software.

Goldwave is definately a good piece of software for the job. As for a soundcard, as long as you have a port going in, you don't really need anything too special. If you have your heart set on Audigy, both are good. It depends on how much you want to spend, as the Platinum is more expensive.
