Anyone have any experience in what catalyst drivers are best for the Sapphire 9700 PRO. I am thinking of using the 3.2's which I downloaded from the Sapphire site. Are these the ones to uses? Or are there betters ones to use. I heard that the 3.1's are buggy. I mostly due business and DVD watching. The games I play are older ones and probably not as demanding as the newer ones. I am a big fan of Unreal Tournament but I hate the color brillance with the Ti4400( I also play it on my backup computer with my Radeon 8500-love the color). I am curious what the 9700 will do with 3DMark 2001se. I am getting 11500 on the Ti4400 with it set to best performance and 1024 x 768 16 bit. this is with Ti4400 overclocked to 300/600.
This is also with 30.82's as these are most stable for me. I am guessing around 13500 with my setup for the 9700. |

I have no problems with the 3.2 drivers, but I haven’t tried Metal Gear Solid 2 yet. My 3DMark01 SE scores run from around 14000 to 15135 depending on the tweaks and OC.

I have a 9500pro and no problems with the 3.2s.
I don't have Metal Gear but I am running Eve in the beta test, the game requires DX9, so far without trouble. |

Well my 9700 PRO came and I installed the 3.2's from ATI's site. While I love the color saturation and all with the Radeons, I still say the drivers are not as easy to install as NVidia's. Better than what I got with my Radeon 8500 by a mile but ease of installation could be better. I sure wouldn't want to be a newbe and try to change a video card from and NVidia to an ATI. Haven't done any testing or tweaking yet but time enough for that.

Called the performance about right! With no adjustments or tweaking the 9700 PRO gave me around 13500 with the 3.2's on the 3DMark 2001se. Possably will do more but if it affects image quality any will back off. Color image is just brillant.

One nice note, the Radeon by default is setting refresh rate at 85 while the Ti4400 used 60 (by default). Easier on the eyes by that alone.

Found setting for texture/quality. Radeon got the 13500 with adjustment towards quality while Ti4400 was all the way to performance. Didn't see much image improvement with the Ti4400 when set to quality either. Sure do with the Radeon though.
