My motherboard a7n8x is not showing VGA

Okay, I had my computer working perfectly, i take it apart, drive it to a friends, and reassembled (I didn't take anything apart internally). I hook it up, my motherboard is a a7n8x DELUXE and i have a radeon 9800 used for the VGA. I plug in the monitor and turn the computer on, and nothing, i can hear the fans moving, the hard drive, and there are no error beeps.

I do this many times, check everything then start freaking. I assumed my videon card was bad, so i test it in two other machines; works perfectly. maybe the AGP was bad? I put a PCI montior video card in and i get nothing. As well i tried a radeon 7500 agp which didnt work. Out of all this, 2 times did the monitor actually show the boot screen with my 9800 plugged in, It was just out of a freak accident, both times I had my mouse and keyboard unplugged, so when I turned it off and get em back in, it didn't work, not touching anything! WHY WHY WHY!?!?

Just curious, have you tried the monitor on another system to make sure it is still functioning? If your keyboard is PS/2, is there any visible damage to the connector? Damaged PS/2 connectors can sometimes short out other parts of the system. Does the OS load when your mouse/keyboard are unplugged?

I brought my friends monitor down to plug it in my system and same thing happened (the screen is on and realizes it is connected except its in the power saving mode it seems, and if you turn it off and back on again, it says "monitor will shut down in 5 secs" on both monitors). Also I have tried turning it on w/o the ps/2 mouse/keyboard plugged in.

This happened to me when I had a bad stick of RAM. I couldn't believe it!

How many sticks do you have?
Try one stick of memory at a time to see if that is it.

okay that may work.... it is some off brand memory from MWAVE.com if you ever heard of that place. But when i had my memory in any other slot the computer talked to me saying there is no memory. I moved it back (this was weeks ago). I haven't tried anything yet w/ the memory but I'll give it a shot.

I would assume the computer would say the memory IS bad though or say it cannot access it, cause it talks (which is cool) to diagnose problems... hmm I don't think my friend has pc2100 + memory though =/

Since you transported the computer to another location, what might have happened is a screw came loose and fell between the motherboard and the case. If this did happen, your motherboard is shorting to the case and you'll get what you're experiencing...no image on screen and a system that appears dead. Take the motherboard out of the case and check for loose screws or standoff that shouldn't be there.

Check the heat sinks and fans on your processor and video card. Make sure they spin when the PC is on and that they are no lose.

yeah it works now, i think if i transport it, it will screw up again. but I guess I have to shake it like a magic eight ball to get it to do what I want, like getting the eight ball to say what I want. I have it standing up, and tucked far outta the way, I wont be moving it for a while, but thanks everyone for all the ideas.

Something was causing the motherboard to short to the case.

Well I took off a lot of my standoffs and have about 6 left for the motherboard, because I dont know if some were touching the motherboard because there was no hole on the board for the stand off.... But, I did that while i had my computer at home, a while ago, must have positioned everything just right before, or something is loose that I've yet to find.

I would have thought the same thing, but when I spoke to a Crucial CSR about replacing my stick of PC2100 DDR, he said that "nothing to the monitor" was a common symptom of a bad stick. New one on me!
