how do you install a video card on a new build?
ok, so i've got this new build; i just need to be able to hook my monitor up, but i need a video card, right? since i don't even have an OS installed on my computer because i have no monitor hooked up...how would i install the drivers for the video card so i could use the monitor? this seems like a catch 22, but i'm sure there's something i'm missing. what is it!? - Reuben

Drivers aren't required for VGA mode, it should boot fine. All you gotta do is plug the vid card in and fire it up.

i didnt understand what you were saying...but.......if you install the card in the AGP slot and have the monitor plugged into the video card. boot it up and all should run well. |

Just install an AGP video card in the AGP slot, or a PCI card if that's all you have, and fire it up. You'll get a display providing your having no problems with the video card or monitor. When you install and load your OS (I assume Windows) it will install basic drivers for it that you can overwrite with the newest drivers for the card.

dont feel bad about that bud, I thought the same thing too until I read up on it a bit, yeah its all PnP, the VGA protocals (or whatever you want to call them) are basically the same for all vid cards.
