video card restarting pc?

Im not sure what or how to describe my problem so here goes.
Got an Asus A7V8X motherboard with MSI GeForce2 MX400 graphics card.2000 xp athalon.I wanted to upgraded a bit.
So i bought a 2200+ xp athalon.(and new fan)
And a Sparkle GeForce4 MX440
Both are compatible with the motherboard.
Installed fine
Runs fine
Until i try to play a few games then the pc crashes and restarts windowns.
Ive instaled the drivers for the graphics card fine and dont understand whats happening.
What am i missing and what should i do?

Are the drivers for the previous AGP card completely removed? Any Resource Conflicts in Device Manager? Try re-installing DirectX.

Ive looked in device manager and everything is instaled ok
I didnt un-install the drivers for the other card cos i dont know how or where they are.Do they really have to be un-instaled as there is no conflicts in device manager.

They don't *have* to be un-installed, but it helps eliminate possible conflicts. Un-install all the entries(if there is more then one)under Display Adapters in Device Manager. Reboot into Safe Mode, and un-install the video drivers from the Add/Remove applet in Control Panel(if they are still present). Reboot, and install the drivers for the new video card.

Tried what you suggested but same thing.
It did play a game though for a short while then i got an e-mail.I used task manager to switch to e-mail,read e-mail then switched back to game again. As soon as i switched back to the game the pc crashed and rebooted. Why has it gone so unstable?
Is there anything else i should try?

There's no way to uninstall it without an external program to do the uninstalling.

If you go to redownload direct X and get v9 be sure that you have drivers that support it first!
