Monitors To Buy/Avoid

I'm planning on buying a 19" screen soon. I want a cheap one but not too bad. so anything I should look for or avoid?

The best low end (non aperture grille) 19" IMO is the Viewsonic G90F. Mwave has them for under 220 dollars.

The Samsung 955DF is also good, same price range, only slightly less in specs.

I use Viewsonic with all my builds, they are a really good performer. Also, the flat screen monitors seem a little easier on the eyes.

Definitely. Whatever brand you buy make sure it's a flat screen.

The only thing the G90F has on the 955DF is the ability to do 1280 x 1024 @ 90hz, whereas the 955DF will only do 1024 x 768 at that refresh rate.

If you don't run anything higher than 1024 x 768 the two are all but identical (and the Samsung is prolly cheaper by a few dollars).

I actually have not had good luck with viewsonic, had two of them and both went out in less then 2 years, good picture, they just didnt last. Flat panels are real cheap right now, maybe think about getting one of those.

If you need 19 inches under $200, the KDS XF-9 is the best of the bargain basement models and their warranty/support is excellent.
