I am having trouble getting my sound to work on my computer. I have installed the software and drivers but when I go to play something it will just sit there and play but with no sound. It is an onboard sound card and it is turned on in bios, pluged into the right port and is not muted. I don't know what else it could be.

What OS are you running? Look in the Device Manager or Hardware section and check to see if there are any little yellow question marks or red exclamation points. What motherboard is this?

Can you provide the full model number of the motherboard?

Okay I'm going to suggest something; try playing music and then test the sound through each audio port with headphones.
If you don't feel comfortable doing that (rist of shorting or frying the onboard sound), shut down your PC before you make a switch to test the next port. [edit]: Also check to see if your volumes are not muted. You may want to try that first.

Did you take a look at the volumes?
Go to Control Panel > Sound and Audio Devices > Place volume icon in the taskbar (checkbox). |

Hi Peebles
just a shot in the dark but some onboard sound boards require powered speakers. Doug |

Are you sure both the master and wave volumes are unmuted and cranked up? How about the volume control on the speakers? Are all of the conections secure and pushed in all the way?
