PowerDVD XP 4 problem
I have problems with power DVD XP 4 when i try to watch a DVD movie the program sends an error message that the TV card is not properly configured but the pc doesnīt have any tv output, I canīt see a DVD movie at all, but with VCD there is not problem, this is a PCCHIPS M748LMRT v 3.5 the vga driver is SIS620 Rev 2a date 04-06-2000, this is under WIN98se, I had Win XP in this system before and the DVDs play OK but I format the HD and install the win 98se and the problem begins. I īve search for an upgrade for the video card in the pcchips home page but it is not availabe, I also contact cyberlink and they post me instruction for reinstall the program but nothing.
any help Wellcome. |

That motherboard has everything onboard, and is very unstable at best. The only video improvement would be to install a PCI video card and disable the onboard SiS video.

What kind of video card do you suggest for this mainboard? especially to avoid this problem in the future and increase the video performance, this mean that if i install a tv card like a pinacle cards I wonīt be able to view DVDs again.
Thanks |

Your best bet for a PCI card for this particular setup would be one of the Radeon 1 cards.
You mention a Pinnacle card, unless you've already made up your mind on a higher-end capture card you could pick up an All in Wonder Radeon and then you'd have your capture ability as well. |

No offense, but I'd honestly suggest a new mainboard, the M748 was the lowest of the low. Upgrades will just fight you every step of the way, been there, done that. If you can't afford a significant upgrade, I'd just leave it alone and deal with what it throws you. Why don't you just put XP back on being that it did work before that way? If XP runs like a dog, throw more ram at it, 256 will work well and 512 is even better.
Xayd - do they still make a PCI All-in-Wonder? I don't see any listed at Newegg. |
