Overlays and Extended Monitor Problem
i have been trying to make an extended monitor (using tv) work on a radeon 9100 with overlays working (divx, dvd). unfortunately, i haven't been succesful.
i can make a divx file play on a tv with no problems on a setup that would simply duplicate the desktop monitor to the tv. when i enable extended monitor, divx, dvds, played on the computer does not show up on tv. is there a way to make extended monitor and overlay work at the same time? |

The ATI drivers should enable their overlay whenever a directshow filter is accessed, and revert back for the desktop when you stop playing whatever you're playing.
Make sure your refresh rate is set to 60hz for the TV output. If you have the ATI control panel installed you should be able to tweak the TV settings under control panel/display/advanced/displays |

i installed the bundled driver then the catalyst 3.2. the refresh rate for tv output is also 60hz. the ati control panel is also installed. i also accessed the overlays in the ati control panel. Theatre, etc. overlay option was displayed when the tv is set to clone. the option under overlay disappears when i set the tv as extended. help.

Well, after looking at ATI's documentation I'm not sure if the TV can be used as a second desktop in a dual-monitor function.
The refresh rates and resolutions for a TV and a Monitor will be different, therefore independant, and I dunno if the card has the ability to do what you want it to do. Hopefully someone else will have your answer. |
