older cards in brand new boards
saying that a card was designed when the 100Mhz FSB was the best thing, wouldnt sticking them in a brand new 200Mhz FSB board sort of, harm them

That was quick... No I've never heard of a problem, as cards are on the PCI bus and are not related to the CPU bus. Is that what you mean?

i saw a thing for a 9700 Pro saying it was compatible up to a 400Mhz FSB

I think they were referring to the dual 400 MHz DACs...
