Question Radeon 9700 PRO and DX9

Anyone having problems with dx9 and the Radeon 9700 pro?
I am looking at some games that require dx9 and don't want to get into operating issues because of it. I have heard that it is hard to uninstall. I am using Win98se and an Intel processor and chipset (PE chipset). The game is Freelancer. I am currently using dx 8.1 with no issues. None of my current games require dx9.

I'm running DX9 with a 9700 Pro, and I'm having no problems whatsoever. I didn't notice any performance increase going from 8.1 to 9, but it didn't reduce stability/compatibility at all.

I have the Freelancer demo running with a 9500pro and DX9.0a and no trouble.
I was also running the Eve beta which does require DX9 with no trouble, the problem there was CCPs servers.

Well, I installed dx9.0a and so far it seems to work. Haven't tried any benchmarks yet but time enough for that. Freelancer demo runs ok.
