Looking at new 21+" monitors, need opinions.

I am looking to get a new 21+ inch monitor to replace my 19" gateway that i've had for years. I'm looking for a new one because this gateway won't go above 1024x768 without disdtortion (wavy lines) and only has a max refresh of 75.

I saw this 21" monitor for under 500 at newegg with free shipping.

SONY CRT MONITOR CPD-E540

Does anyone have experience with this monitor? I'll be using it for gaming. In addition, i don't see anywhere if it says if it's a flat screen (not flat panel) and if it has an anti reflective coating.

I don't see much of a difference between this one listed and the two below it that are at least $150 more, is there a big difference? Thanks.

It's a Trinitron so the screen will not be totally flat. It does not have a coating. The more expensive ones are capable of higher resolutions and refresh rates, and have a screen coating.

You pay for either the aperature grille or the screen coating at that price .

The Viewsonic G220 is about the same price but has the anti-reflective screen instead of the aperture grille if that's what you prefer.

Flat panels are nice, but are way overpriced!

That and LCDs are no good for games, pixels don't refresh fast enough, causing nasty shadowing of textures.
