Looking at new 21+" monitors, need opinions.
I am looking to get a new 21+ inch monitor to replace my 19" gateway that i've had for years. I'm looking for a new one because this gateway won't go above 1024x768 without disdtortion (wavy lines) and only has a max refresh of 75.
I saw this 21" monitor for under 500 at newegg with free shipping. I am looking to get a new 21+ inch monitor to replace my 19" gateway that i've had for years. I'm looking for a new one because this gateway won't go above 1024x768 without disdtortion (wavy lines) and only has a max refresh of 75. SONY CRT MONITOR CPD-E540 Does anyone have experience with this monitor? I'll be using it for gaming. In addition, i don't see anywhere if it says if it's a flat screen (not flat panel) and if it has an anti reflective coating. I don't see much of a difference between this one listed and the two below it that are at least $150 more, is there a big difference? Thanks. |

It's a Trinitron so the screen will not be totally flat. It does not have a coating. The more expensive ones are capable of higher resolutions and refresh rates, and have a screen coating.

You pay for either the aperature grille or the screen coating at that price
.The Viewsonic G220 is about the same price but has the anti-reflective screen instead of the aperture grille if that's what you prefer. |

Flat panels are nice, but are way overpriced!

That and LCDs are no good for games, pixels don't refresh fast enough, causing nasty shadowing of textures.
