ti 4200 or 4600 or 4800

I am trying to figure out what the best video card is for the money. I have been reading reviews for a while that say how great each one is (however I am still not sure what the difference is with the 4800's) but if the human eye can only see upto 60 fps what is the point of getting a card for $300.
I am trying to get some advice as to what make model is the best for under $200.00 preferably under $150.00

can someone help??

Hi Ghost-

Don't say nvidia too loud around here, cause this is definitely ATI Radeon territory.

I can't really tell you what to buy, but I can tell you that I have an Asus ti 4200 128MB 8X AGP and I really like it. I got it at Newegg for just under $150.

Well I am not apposed to the radon's the only reason I did not mention them at first was b/c I have heard(probably a rumor) that raedon's are pre-disposed to having more problems generally speaking (program non-compatibility). Again no offense to anyone it was somthing I read or heard.

the 4800s have AGP 8x, but a lot of the 4800s also have a lot faster memory and a bit faster core clock too

Are you into heavy duty gaming or just casual gaming? If you only play games once in a while and they aren't very graphic intensive, say something like The Sims, then you'll do just fine in going with a 4200. However, if you play graphic intensive games like first person shooters and the like, you'll definitely want to go as high as your budget will allow. Go with a 4800 if you can, but a 4600 will also perform very well too.

You don't really need the 8X AGP if you're not running anything over 1024x768.

The 9500 Pro is the best value for the money as far as performance goes. But if you want the extra features to watch TV and capture, then there are other video cards out there that will provide performance close to the 9500 Pro. Consider the Ti4200 cards with VIVO capability (Video IN Video Out). If you don't need that the 9500 Pro is the way to go.

The best video cards (plural is intentional) for the money are Ti4200's and Radeon 9500's.

I recently bought an aopen gf4 ti4200 128mb 8x . it has the VIVO thing.

I got windvd and winproducer with it. dont really know if these programs are worth much, though .
I have it on an abit nf7s mobo with an athlon 2200+ . It runs all fps and the few racing games i tried perfectly.
(all at full settings, 1024*768) .
i tried the new toca, mafia, nolf2, cfs3 on it, and only cfs3 gave a few 'chops' from time to time.
(seems like cfs ask very much of my pc)
A 9500 is quite some better prolly, but that was out of my personal price range.

The VIVO card will need a tuner (I use a vcr). If you already have a tuner card then you won't need a VIVO video card.

I'd recommend this one.

Vivo is video in/video out. It's not a tuner.

Jaton is a fairly low grade manufacturer but their stuff seems to be reliable.

You might as well get an 8x card if you are buying a card, it will run fine in a 4x slot.

Please don't post in ALL CAPS - thank you!

If you use a 8x card in a 4x AGP slot, it's basically pointless because the card would only hit the 4x AGP rate.

The performance hit currently is said to be between 1 and 2 %, probably very similar to running an ATA133 hard drive on an ATA100 controller.
