Question how to open mpeg-3 in pinnacle studio?

My friend gave me a video to edit-but pinnacle studio can only handle mpg and mpg2. When I try to edit, the video comes out blank. I was thinking of changing formats. Are there other solutions?

What format is the video? I thought mpeg-3 was MP3 which is audio.

What is the file extension. If it is something odd like an .asf file you might not be able to edit it at all.

When I open the properties, its said mpeg-3. When I add it, There are around 25 pages, so I know that the video is currently being read. There is no audio and the icons are all blank. I can play it-still blank. I've checked the duration, its the same as the file.

pinnacle studio 8 does not support mpeg-3 files

mpeg-3 is a highly compressed audio file

Try changing the file extension to mpg2 or mpg. Does it work then? How big is this file? HTH
