Radeon 9500 Pro
I just purchased all of the parts to my first build and saved the vid card for last. I think i've chosen the Radeon 9500 Pro, but had a few questions.
1) I know it's not the latest card, but will it be able to handle all of the newer games at their highest settings for a while? 2) Why are there different brands? 3) Where would I find the best price (ATI is what i'm assuming is the best?) |

Yes, the 9500 Pro is a great card. It runs on the 9700 chipset and is faster than the the 9600 that replaced it. I'd say if you can't afford a 9700 or 9800, this is the next best card. It should be able to handle most of the games you throw at it depending on what your processor is. Not sure how to answer why there are different brands, but to find the best price compare them at newegg.com, mwave.com, googlegear.com, and excaliberpc.com. They are some of the best places to shop and usually have the lowest prices.

Don't hesitate to buy a Sapphire OEM version - it's the same card as a genuine Built by ATI - Sapphire really builds a lot of the genuine cards for ATI.

Brands also include Hercules and Atlantis. But as glc said Sapphire is ATi's right hand man.
