I have Ulead VideoStudio 6 SE DVD. Mpeg 1, 2 or AVI? what Audio Bit rate should I use 192/224? This is stuff I am planning on keeping and making VCDs with.

I would use Mpeg 2 because the videos seem to come out smaller save you hard drive space. When I used AVI oh man like a 2min video was like 300mb. For Audio I use 224 but some people like 192 because the texture of the sound.

The absolute best quality would be capturing uncompressed AVIs and running them through an MPEG encoder after, but you'd need alot of space obviously
.If you don't have the space for it, capture at MPEG-2 with the highest quality settings the software will allow. If you need to shrink it after that can be done without losing much quality. Same with the audio, compressing and remixing audio is pretty easy and quick to do, you want your capture to be as high quality as possible, compress it after. |

After you've got an AVI you can encode it with TMPGENC which will give much better results than capturing directly to MPEG-2, although it's gonna take longer.
Depends on how picky you are about the quality. |
