PC to home stereo.
I want to hook up my PC sound to my stereo. Should I buy a sound card or just use the onboard sound output. I got the adapter that goes from the little plug to Audio connectors. Will the sound be much greater with say a SBL 5.1 or Audigy cards.

You mean the onboard sound will be great? My MOBO supports 5.1 onboard.

if you have line out jacks on the back of your sound card, feed the line out to the line in and your stero amp, and it will play through the stero speakers, even if it is on-board sound card, it don't matter
