Video card problems! Weird
I've had this GeForce4 Ti4800SE 128mb DDR 8x AGP for about two weeks and the other day (shortly after installing my Audigy 2) when I turned my pc on the picture was scrambed from the start of the boot up sequence. There were missing letters and random characters like numbers and letters were just all over the place. It'll get to the Windows XP loading screen and it would freeze. So I ran it in safe mode and it worked fine! No letters or random numbers in safe mode. I figured it might be a driver issue. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers in safe mode but still the problem persisted. I took my old GeForce2 out of my old computer and reinstalled it and it works fine in normal windows. I'm thinking it's my video card that could be messed up, but maybe you have heard of something and could have some idea as to whats going on! It's really annoying.

If it works in safe mode then it is a driver issue. When I still used NVIDIA cards I never used the disk that came with the card, instead I always downloaded the drivers from NVidia. However there were times I was also searching for older drivers since sometimes the newer drivers were crap.
Started using ATI based cards and will never go back to NVidia again. Just to much varied quality of the NVidia based cards out there. |

it used to be perfect in safe mode, but now when i go to safe mode you can see the random letters and numbers but it's at a much smaller rate.

Check the fan on the card. This sounds like it could be a heat related issue.
If all is OK there, just make sure that the card is seated correctly. I have seen this with card creep! Not all mobos have a latch for the AGP slot and sometimes the card can rise up from the slot. It will not take much for bad contact, and this starts to have an effect on stability. Card Creep is usually only seen in rigs that Power up and Down regularly, Heating up, the cards expand very, very fractionally, and then shrink back when cool, as anybody with a knowledge of physics will tell you, this can make things move, especially when in a confined space, the card pushes it self where there is least friction (ie up out of the slot) when warm, when it then cools, it stays there. So overtime the card reduces contact in the slot and gradually things get worse. just a thought.

Nah I know that it's seated correctly in the slot, thanks though. It's just so weird. It was working and then BAM! After putting in my audigy 2 is when it started happening. So I took my audigy 2 out and then it still had the problem. I thought maybe it had a hardware conflict. I don't get it. The audigy 2 works great with my geforce 2 thats what i'm running as a backup right now
I got the audigy2 installed far away from the agp or pci slot with the video card in it. so it's not like it's sharing resources. |

Can you try the card on another rig.
If it does the same, then I think you should RMA it. |

It sounds like you may have done it already, but I know that there have been some problems with Audigy cards and Windows XP. Don't know if this extends to the Audigy 2 per se, but it couldn't hurt to uninstall the sound card and then install again with the latest drivers from the website.
Have you tried a step-by-step loading of Windows to see if you can pinpoint the problem? Have you updated your BIOS lately? |

One of 2 things - the card is defective, or your power supply is substandard.
You say the card is seated correctly, but have you actually tried reseating it? I'm not trying to be insulting, but just "looking" at it is not conclusive. |

Yup, I have tried to put it back in and run it with it installed multiple times so I know for a fact that it's seated correctly.

As I have already suggested, try and find someone who will let you put it in their rig, and if it still does the same, RMA it !!
