Angry Fire Gforce 4 4400 : PROBLEMS

Configuration of computer :

Epox 8K7A + (motherboard), sound on board : AC97 + AMD1500XP+ (processor)+ 512 mb Ram (2100mhz) + Graphic Card : Gforce 4 titanium 128 mb 4400.

I m having trouble with the graphic card, i think, but i can't find a solution for it. Everytime i start my computer, i have to reboot it at least 6 times before it works. Before this, i always get blue screens : irq is not less or equal, bad pool caller, unmountable boot disk & so on. I really don't know what to do anymore, do i have to change anything in the bios ???

Can someone help me with this pls ?
I would appreciate it alot

Hi kriske,

Welcome to PC Mechanic !!

What make you think it's a vid card problem? Did you just install the vid card? If so, did you completly un-install the old one? Did the system work OK before adding the new (?) card? After rebooting, does it work normal then?

Hi TwoRails, thx for replying

Normally the old vid card has been totally uninstalled. The card i had previously, was a KYRO II card, at that time i didn't had any problems, once i've put the Gforce 4 4400 in the pc, the problems began

I don't know what to do anymore, every 14 days, my windows stops working, & i have to reinstall it every time.

Btw, how can i be absolutely sure, that the old videocard is completely uninstalled ?

Kriske.

Hi kriske,

Wow! Do you do a full "fresh" reinstall?? Like reformatting and surface scan before re-installing Windows? Which version of Windows is it?

If you have to reinstall every couple weeks, sure sounds like more going on than just a vid card problem! Have you done a virus scan lately?

The GF4 Ti cards require a 300 watt system power supply - what do you have for a power supply? How many fans do you have running?

You might also try installing the 30.82 drivers. They are very stable and will often run when nothing else will. I had a Leadtek Ti 4400 and it would run with them and not with the newer drivers. Worth a try. I also had to go to a 400 watt power supply with this card as it would not run stable with a 300 watt one.

Are you sure its the graphic card. I sometimes get the same message but its not due to the graphic card. Software may also "hurt" the pc esspecially those that affect the hardware.
Did you try running the pc in safe mode?
Did you tried dissable any other hardware? Borrow a friends graphic card and test.
