processing power verse ram

Ok, I have desided the next PC I build for Home is going to be geared toward Video/audio editing.

Correct me If I am wrong, but I believe I should spend extra on a faster processor then ram. It seems to me that type or work is very processor intense more so then ram. Bare in Mind, it would be 512 Meg of ram at least anyway.

example a 2 Ghz with 512 of ram would be better for video/audio work then a 1.5 with 1024 Meg of ram right?

Lets not get into AMD verse intell (list by alpha).

In my experience, the faster CPU works better for video & sound editing.

That Xeon is kind of overkill, isn't it?

In video and audio editing, ram is everything. Try turning an 80 meg picture sideways on a ram limited system, then do it on a gig. Cpu speed will help in one area, making video smoother. My .02 cents for ya.
