Angry winamp not using surround sound!

I have combined a 2 sepaker 1 subwoofer with a 2 speaker= two front and two rear. When I open aplications like WMP9, games, winxp startup all speakers are in use maning there is sound coming out from all of it. But for winamp only 2 front and subwoofer in use-the two rear are not in use. I don't know what else to do to enable it. The weird thing is that when I open mp3 in wmp9-it works. Now how do you make all the speakers work using winamp?

My sound card- C-media(creative) built in motherboard of a MSI GNB MAX-i7205 that supports up to 6 channels +1 subwoofer. Speakers are
Altec lansing 221-2 speakers(front) 1 subwoofer
normal speaker -2(rear)

I like using winamp cause its the only mp3 player I know that sits in the taskbar and do not clutter my start bar.

CTRL+P in Winamp to bring up Preferences

Go to Plugins --> Output and make sure that Directsound output is selected

Some of my MP3s don't make any sound on the rear speakers

You may need to go into Creative Playcentre and click on CMSS to enable 'Movie Mode', without this enabled you won't hear anything from your centre speaker either
