Do It Yourself MP3 Player
I just finished assembling a MP3 Player for details you can visit http://pepster.com. I have to say this is one fun project and I still have plans for the MP3 players, such as building a better case (although the current one is pretty unique) and hooking it to my home stereo system. I was in building mood and I didn't want to build another computer, mostly because right now I don't have that kind of money, so when I saw this on TheScreenSavers - I said to myself this looking interesting and decided to build one. You have a choice is builiding an assembled MP3 main board or an unassembled MP3 main board, knowing my soldering skills I opted for the assembled MP3 main board.
What I'm really impressed about this MP3 Player is the sound quality, for it has clear and clean sounds when playing a mp3. So building isn't limited to computers.

Cool, but absolutely huge. I'll stick with my iPod.

Looks interesting, how long did it take you to assemble it?

It really didn't take me long about 2 weeks and that was mostly ordering and receiving all the parts . I'm still working on it, I want to build another case for it, smaller and stronger, maybe add a 4 - AA battery holder and if I get really ambitous build a USB converter so I don't have to keep hooking about the laptop to my desktop computer. Although I currently have over 2000 mp3 and still have roughly 8 gig of free space left on a 20 Gig hard drive, not bad at all and the usb isn't a high priority right nowl.
It would have taken longer if I did the unassembled MP3 main board, but with my terrible soldering skills I probably would never have gotten it to work.
