installing video card
Should I install the drivers from the CD before I install the video card? ALso do I turn off the onboard one first and if so suppose the new one doesn't work? I have a card and think it's okay but not completely sure. How will I see to turn the old one back on?
Thanks, Jo |

Uninstall the onboard video driver, shut down, put the card in, hook the monitor to it, disable the onboard with the jumper if it has one - if not, boot it, go into the bios and disable it there - if there's no place there, it should automatically disable when there's a card in the slot. Windows will start at 640x480, then install the new drivers. If you have no video when you start it off the card, the card is no good, you do not need drivers or any disabling to get the boot screen, that comes off the standard VGA circuit.
