hooking gamecube to computer?

Hi, is there a way to hook a gamecube to a computer, as to play it on the computer instead of a tv? There probably is, but it would probably take a bunch of adapters and a new 3d card i think... Anyone know how to do this? Thanks

well, mainly because i dont have easy access to the tv where the gamecube is. I was lookin on the web and most people get tv tuners that let them play nintendo, xbox and stuff. They say that they hook them up through S-video, but would i need an adapter to connect the gamecube to s-video?

Well, i figured out how to connect gamecube through s video, but is there a difference between using a tv tuner with s video and a 3d card with s video?

but whats the difference between a tv tuner and a regular 3d card S Video wise? I mean they both have s video, but the tv tuner also has jacks for digital cable and such which i dont need, i just need to play gamecube.

So get a cheapo one then .

Those cards like the Leadtek one listed above only cost ~40 dollars online.

All you need besides that is an adapter from Radio shack to run the 1/4" stereo audio from the Gamecube down to 1/8" connectors that'll fit your soundcard.

yes, but i need a new 3d card anyways, and 40 dollars extra is a lot for me and a waste if I can get the same thing I need without that 40 dollar extra card.

Another question, if I buy a card with s video on it, and i plug in the s video, will it like "take over the monitor automatically"? like will it start playing from the svideo source or do I have to run a program to run from the svideo source? Thanks

It will output the S-Video just like another monitor, so you'll see BIOS/Boot Screens/Everything just like it was a monitor.

The tv tuner card lets you record and watch live tv like a Tivo, but less expensive.

And that means that the machine will reboot or something when i plug something in the s video? Or do you mean i have an extra monitor FOR the s video? Sorry, im not quite understanding that. Say Im in windows, and i plug my gamecube up to my 3d card, then i turn the gamecube on, what would happen?

I believe you'd have to do some configuring for the card about which display it should be showing. The card should have some sort of options for doing this.

Right away, nothing. The card comes with software that's similar to any other media player. You open it up, you see what's coming in on the input jack and what's coming through the input jack on your sound card. You close it, it goes away and you see nothing.

For video output, it works exactly like a second monitor that displays the same thing you see on your primary monitor.

on the red, yellow, and white plugs coming from the Gamecube, which goes where and do I need an adapter for any of them? I have a ATI Radeon 9800 Pro and would like to be able to play my console games through my computer. When I turn the GC on, will it automatically show up on the monitor or do I have to run a player to show it?

I heard of some guy who put top of the line parts together and soldered a PS2, X-Box and a Gamcube together into the video card. Now only if I could find the site lol. I think that system was selling really expensive though, like $15,000 US.

You need to a vid card or capture card with the video input, and the capture software open (in the case of ATI, you open the TV software).

The yellow cord is for video, the red and white cords are for sound, you'll probably need an adapter to run those into your sound card unless the vid card has an input adapter for them.

The s-video on your video card can only be used for this if it's video IN capable. VIVO = video in, video out. Many s-videos on video cards are only video out.
