minidisc or flash player
I want a portable mp3 player which should I get ?

Of those two, a minidisc. Net MD has up to 32x tranfer speed, although you'll never see speeds that fast, but the media is cheap, about $1.25 for 1 disc, which holds up to 5 hours of music in Atrac3 format. Compare that to the price of flash media and you can see which is a better value.
