Sapphire vid cards???
I have another newbie/stupid question. What is the difference between the Sapphire vid cards and the ATI cards performance wise. I am just wondering cause I am trying to save a few $$$ and with Sapphire's being cheaer it grabbed my interest but I am worried that the cards won't be as good as the ATI cards.

Sapphire is the official manufacturer of ATI. Most of the ATI video cards are manufactured by Sapphire. They are very good and the products come out in good working order. The performance is the same. I go with Sapphire than any other brand of ATI.

Sapphire boards will perform exactly the same as ATI boards. Sapphire is just a manufacturer of video cards that use the ATI chipsets. Just like MSI, Asus and Abit make Geforce cards, Sapphire and Powercolor make ATI cards. Same card, different name.

Sapphire is an exceptional company. Others though do NOT make the same quality cards as the first party company does (ATi). Other companies will often times sacrifice quality in parts to save $$.

I don't think you will find any 3rd party companies using ATI chips that make lousy cards - ATI holds their manufacturers to standards where Nvidia doesn't care.

i didn't say lousy, i just said not the same quality and for good reason. i've heard of lower quality capacitators being used for example. you're right though, i haven't heard many complaints from ATI owners about hardware just failing...

Sapphire and the like made some pretty crappy 8500's. I mean, who would want to get one clocked at like 200/175? Not that they were unreliable as far as I know.
