Question Questions, ATI Radeon 9600 PRO

In anticipation of the arrival of my new ATI Radeon 9600 Pro,
I have been doing some research. While looking the user manual at the ATI website I found the following information,
"Install AGP Drivers for non-Intel Chipset Based
Motherboards. Several AGP motherboard
manufacturers use non-Intel AGP chipsets. Chipsets
include those made by Acer Laboratories (ALI),
Silicon Integrated Systems (SIS), and VIA
Technologies, Inc. Each non-Intel chipset requires
the installation of a custom Virtual GART (AGP)
Driver. This driver is required by your new ATI card
to function correctly with your motherboard. It is
very important that the correct AGP driver be
installed before installing an AGP video card in your
system.
An incorrect or missing GART driver can
result in AGP memory not being detected or a
black screen after Windows® loads."

Thinking I have a VIA chipset, I ran BIOS Agent, which gave me the following report.

Program: Unicore BIOS Wizard Version 3.2
Program: eSupport.com BIOS Detect v1.1 June 4, 2003
BIOS Date: 10/02/01
BIOS Type: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG
BIOS ID: 10/02/2001-8363-686B-6A6LMS2AC-00
OEM Sign-On: K7VTAPRO-2AA5
Chipset: VIA 82C305 rev 3
Superio: VIA 686 rev 64 found at port 7h
OS: Microsoft Windows 98 SE Version: 4.10.2222 A
CPU Type: AMD Athlon(tm) XP
CPU Speed: 1100 Mhz
CPU Max: 500 Mhz
BIOS ROM In Socket: Yes
BIOS ROM Size: 256K
Memory Installed: 384 MB
Memory Maximum: 512 MB
Memory Slot 01: 128 MB
Memory Slot 02: 128 MB
Memory Slot 03: 128 MB
Memory Slot 04: 0 MB

Now, my questions:
1) Do I need to download new AGP Drivers?
2) What is a GART driver? I couldn't find anything about it at the Soyo website.
3) BIOS Agent report my CPU (an Athlon XP 1700) speed is 1100Mhz, and CPU Max is 500Mhz. Does this mean my CPU is only running at 500Mhz? Is there something messed up in my BIOS settings?
4) Did I get the wrong video card? Will it work with my Soyo K7VTA Pro motherboard?

Thanks for your help and
Sorry my post is so long....but
I really appriciate it!

I think you should be good to go if you install the latest VIA 4 in 1 drivers. That also includes an AGP update driver.

Not quite sure though. Good question. I'll follow up on this thread.

Send a message via AIM to Alaron
Pballa, you should start a new thread but win98 only handles 512megs before you have to tweak the vcache to get it to handle more.

Thanks for your replies, but still don't know if my CPU speed is correctly running at 1100mhz or not?
Anyone have any ideas? What does it mean, Max CPU 500mhz?
Thanks again.

GLC - - Do I need to install this before I put in my new video card or does it matter?
