Would you guys recommend buying manufacturers other than ATI and Nvidia like Sapphire etc.? Are they as reliable?

Welcome to PCMech, lalalland!
![]() nVidia and ATi aren't really the manufacturers of video cards. They supply their chipsets to manufacturers, and the individual manufactures (Abit, Gainward, Asus, Sapphire, etc.) make the cards.

FF2K2, ATi *does* manufacture video cards. They have always been. Only until recently they have jumped on the built-by-others bandwagon.
Sapphire does manufacture some of the Built-by-ATi video cards, but not all AFAIK. Sapphire also makes its own Powered-by-ATi units.

Thanks for clearing that up, Nuke.
I guess that show how long I've been following ATi

I would recommend ASUS and Abit for Nvidia cards. I would steer away from PNY, ECS, FIC, and Biostar. Most often, though, I lean towards buying ATI cards manufactured by ATI.
