fx 5900 ultra but only 4x agp
hey i was thinking that when doom 3 comes out the 5900 ultra will be alot cheaper and anyway I was wondering how much of a performance loss I would have by only having a motherboard with 4x agp and not 8x. Should I not bother getting the card till I can put in a new mobo with 8x agp?
btw right now i have a ti 4200 overclocked to 315/621. So should I just keep that until I get enough money for a new mobo and the 5900 ultra? thanks |

I have read that it shows no difference if your using a 8X card on 4X.

well i know on things like the ti 4200 compared to the 8x version. but what about these newer cards like the 5900 that will require more bandwidth?

Right now, no game requires the added bandwidth of AGP 8x. Games in the future will be much more demanding, such as Doom 3. Until it comes out, we wont know if 8x is necessary to run it. Stick with the Ti4200 until you upgrade for Doom 3. It will run anything until then.
