ATI Drivers problem

Crashed my system last weekend and was able to recover ok. However, I did have to reformat and reinstall XP and all my drivers. I have an ATI 7500 PCI video card that was running fine with Catalyst 3.5 drivers before the crash. I had previously updated to that level from older drivers. After the crash, I tried to install the new 3.6 drivers. Got this weird scrolling effect on the monitor. If I tried to move the curser on the right bar, the monitor would not move the screen intact, it looked like it was refreshing in waves. Checked all the monitor settings, but nothing worked. Decided to rollback the drivers to what came with the board. Worked OK. Then tried to reinstall the Cat 3.5 drivers again. Same scrolling effect. Rolled back again. I'm running ok now, but can't help but wonder what was causing this weirdness.

Try borrowing a monitor and see if it'll happen again after installing the new drivers. Maybe your refresh rate is too low so try changing that as well as your desktop resoulution to 800x600 and see if that helps.

I've been hanging out at rage3d for weeks, ever since the 3.6 catalyst drivers were released. Those drivers are a problem.
For now I, and many others, are running 3.4 or 3.5 and hoping the 3.7s ( or whatever ) do a better job.
Some of us do great with 3.4 but hit trouble at 3.5 and the rest get to 3.5 but can't get anything to work past that.
It's ATI's problem, not yours.
