Send a message via ICQ to needhelp
no sound what does this message mean

I have just built a 466Mhz Celeron computer from second hand parts and all has gone pretty well, computer is up and running just fine with Windows 98se The only problem that I am having at the moment getting sound to work. I am using a Ensoniq Creative sound card.(also second hand) I downloaded the drivers for the card and installed it on the computer, the drivers seem to install okay but towards the end of the installation I get the message
"The Creative Sound blaster PCI 64 driver cannot load, MIDI WAVE set, midi play-back has been disabled"
Now what does that mean, has the sound card been disabled in the BIOS set up or has something been disabled on the card itself?
I get no sound at all not even the Windows fanfare, So over to you guys, where do I go from here and what does the message mean.

What is showing in DeviceManager>SoundVideoGamecontrollers ?
Is C.P.>Sounds set to Windows Default ? Or ? Etc etc
Are you positive you have the right driver ?
Have you tested the speakers elsewhere.
Try to give as much info as possible.
Cheers

I have had this before on a customers rig.

You need a seperate download of the Midi files, with them installed all should be well.

If I remember right, I used DriverGuide to find the drivers, but it was sometime ago.
