Ram

Is it ok to use one stick of 128MB PC2100 and one stick of 512MB PC3100 Ram? I don't know if two completely different cards are compatible.

In most cases it will be fine the system will just default to the lower speed ram.

Does this mean whether I get pc2100 or something higher, it won't matter, it will always work on the lower speed (2100)?

Would it help at all if I replaced one of my 128 PC2100 with a 512 PC3100? or should i get 512 PC2100 since its the same anyways?

When mixing different speeds of ram the system will only run as fast as the slowest stick.

Althought things have gotten better in recent year about using different types / brands of memory in the same mobo, there is really no guarantee they will work together. Chances are better, but it's still a hit and miss thing...
