Angry Screen shrinking/expanding

My wife's PC has a 19" CRT and a ATI AIW video card. When changing screens it will shrink in from the sides and then expand back out. At same time colors wash in and out.

What's the best guess? CRT or video card? Since neither the CRT or video card is easy to change I hope to get it right the first time.

I have a old spare 15" monitor and a low end video card to experiment with to find the failing part, but since the PC is in a hutch, neither is easy to swap out. Hence the reason for best guess of what the problem is.

Cool

Thanks George. That was my thinking also. Guess I will get me a small table to set next to her hutch to hook the spare monitor to. At least that will save me from pulling that monitor cable out until I know for sure. Christmas might come early for her.

But that is a job for next week, I'm going to Myrtle Beach now.
